Dr. Lyle Joyce in Kenya

Twin Cities Heart and Lung surgeon Dr. Joyce has had the honor of serving as past president of the prestigious American Society for Artificial Internal Organs, which consists of over a thousand specialists from forty countries around the world. ASAIO members share the common goal of "advancing the research, development, and medical application of bionic technologies." Members represent government, universities, industry, private hospitals and independent research groups; the areas of Nephrology, Biomaterials and Cardiopulmonary devices are heavily represented as well as numerous other specialized interests.

In addition to his work with Twin Cities Heart and Lung, Dr. Joyce also holds several key positions at the University of Minnesota: he is the Director of the Ventricular Assist Program, as well as being the university's Interim Chief of the Division of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery.
