Peripheral
Of or consisting of anything which is away from the central hubs. In the body these hubs are considered to be the heart and the brain.
Peripheral Arterial System
All arteries in the body with the exclusion of those in the heart or head.
Peripheral Artery Disease
Blockage of the vessels in the peripheral artery system.
Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD)
An occlusive (blocked) condition of the blood vessels, both venous and arterial, due to plaque buildup or a blood clot.
Peripheral Vascular System
This includes all veins and arteries that are not in the heart or head.
Pleural Effusion
A collection of fluid inside the chest cavity around the lung; a symptom of other diseases.

The surgical removal of an entire lung.

The vessels that carry un-oxygenated blood to the lungs from the right ventricle (the only arteries in the body that carry un-oxygenated blood).

A test which measures the ability of the lungs to perform the job of exchanging carbon dioxide and oxygen.
Pulmonary Valve
One of the four valves in the heart located between the right ventricle and the pulmonary artery.
Pulmonary Veins
The vessels that carry oxygenated blood from the lungs into the left atrium (the only veins in the body that carry oxygenated blood).
