Telemetry
The act of transmitting readings from a remote location to a central location. It generally refers to heart monitoring done at a distance.

Thoracic
Of or pertaining to the chest.

Thoracoscopy
The insertion of a camera (see Endoscope) through a small incision into the chest, in order to visualize organs.

Thoracotomy
An incision into the chest wall.

Thorascope
A small fiber-optic camera used to visualize the inside of the chest cavity.

Traditional Interventions for Atrial Fibrillation
Traditional interventions include treatment with medication for either rate control or rhythm control of the heartbeat, cardioversion (a jolt of electrical current to re-establish normal heart rhythm) or insertion of a pacemaker.

Traditional Interventions for CAD (Coronary Artery Disease)
These include treatment with thrombolytic agents (drugs that break up clots), a stent, PTCA/angioplasty, or bypass surgery.

Trans-Esophageal Echocardiogram (TEE)
A test using high frequency sound waves to image the heart as well as the surrounding tissue. For this particular test a tube is inserted into the esophagus (swallowing tube) to be close enough to assess the heart sounds.

Transfusion
A process whereby whole blood or the components of blood are injected directly into the blood stream.

Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA)
A "mini stroke" which is caused by a temporary blockage of a vessel in the brain. Symptoms often include a brief loss of vision or quick blackout.

TransMyocardial laser Revascularization (TMR)
A treatment for angina (chest pain) whereby new channels are created in the heart muscle with a laser.

Tricuspid Valve
One of four valves in the heart. It is located between the right atrium and the right ventricle.
